Arvy ChanYoga Teacher - Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu White Belt - Contemporary Jazz and Chinese Folk Dancer From athletics and volleyball to belly dancing, Chinese folk and contemporary jazz dances, Arvy Chan has since her high school years been an active sportsperson and performer. It was only a matter of time before her competitive spirit led her to martial arts and Muay Thai in 2011. Four years later, she would take up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in which she continues to train and compete, recently winning her first Gold medal at the Hong Kong National Championship in 2017. It was also in 2011, after graduating from university and joining the workforce, that she began taking yoga classes at the local gym to maintain her health and fitness levels. An exploration of the many yoga styles both in class and living room would lead her to the fast-paced nature of Vinyasa Flow; simultaneously challenging and rewarding, this style would become her preferred choice to this day. Now a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher with over two-hundred hours of training experience, Arvy conducts Vinyasa yoga classes at BeWater Hong Kong with an approach to balance the understanding of essential yoga philosophy and asanas alignment. Great attention is also placed on the pranayama or breathing aspect of yoga. Through her experiences, she believes in bringing an open mind to classes yet one that keeps to the core of yoga practice, the development of inner self through mindfulness and awareness.
